Stash enhancement by stealth and blatantly!

Hey just thought I'd show off some buys

first the Cosy Wool on sale at Lincraft - got some great colours

and some Jo Sharp Aran Tweed after a particularly hard day with my boys for a hat and scarf for me!

This shade is called Willow I think!

That was my most recent blatant stash enhancement - now for stash enhancement by stealth!!  It happens as quick as a press of a few cyberspace buttons.  Yes Elann.com does it to me often!

I went a bit nuts on the Sock It To Me yarn and tried some Peruvian Highland wool to see what the fuss was all about - haven't felt it yet.

Bit hard to see with all that plastic might have to get you a better shot when released from the bag.

Well better get back to knitting with all this sitting around.

Long time no Post

Life just seems to get in the way of this computer - A lot of cleaning/work/etc has been going on around here.  With a Car Boot Sale - a hard rubbish throwout (where the council comes and picks up big rubbish) - and a school fundraiser where bags of old clothing/bric a brac and manchester are given to the Salvation Army for $5 a bag.  So we have been sorting /throwing/debating and making executive decisions on what stays and what goes.

On the knit front life continues

Here is the little Zebra pinafore and socks - I'll try and get a pic of her in them in the mext couple of days.  They are for my niece Poppy's 1st birthday.  My SIL Tracey had got her way half way up the back of the Kool Aid mohair jumper in SnB and I managed to finish it off

I also am continuing on the poncho and the Shedir cap and some of the Lollipop sock yarn.

My latest project is the Six Sock KAL and socks for the sister of the Zebra outfit.  Maisise is four tomorrow and her socks say " Maisie is 4"  I'm round the heel of the first sock and hopefully will finish in the next week.

Got a new camera too!!!!!

Whats been happening in our house

Lots of excitement in our house as DD got her braces off -  pics to come!  This has been a near 3 year odyssey of headgear and metal and elastic thingys from top to bottom - lots of panadol and  achy teeth but the result is startling.  One day I will try and find a pic of her before teeth were started.  She is really freaked at how her mouth feels though - but still very happy.

On the knit fromt

- Poncho is on the go again and I got the question from the abovementioned 12 yr old DD as to ' Will that ever be finished?"  I glared!

- Celtic cap continues slowly row by row! Duh! but it is slow progress

- Pinafore is ready for the big REVEAL on Friday hopefully and socks just need fringing

- Opal Lollipop socks started - first ribbing done - doing 1010 - Rose/Gold/moss green

- SIL's Lush jumper (aka sweater) is needing sewn up!

- Jo Sharp Silkroad is leaping out at me every time I walk into the yarn room

So there you go!  Altogether a little frustrating - school holidays to boot!

Have a great day everyone - says Lisa recovering from 33 deg C yesterday and then a bucketing of rain from the heavens on to the football pitch whilst we were there to cheer on the Bombers (AFL)!  It was interesting day to say the least.

Beginning, middle and end

I was thinking that I hadn't really blogged much lately and that I didn't seem to be getting much done - apart from frogging ponchos!

But then I thought - hey I haven't posted this, this and that!

At the beginning:

I received from Threads and More  some Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran Tweed in the Dusk shade.  It was 20% off and well worth the effort.  I was going to make the the Big Sack Sweater but I'm not sure about something that shapeless.  I'm looking for a WARM WINTER woollen with maybe a couple of cables and a short neck - pref raglan rather than dropped shoulder.  Any suggestions?  Here is a pic of the yarn.

The middle - I have started (yes don't yell at your computer screen, I started something else) a  cap for my Aunt who is having chemo and radiation out of Bendigo Harmony - a wool/cotton and elastane mix.  It is a Celtic pattern called Shedir from  Knitty  and is lovely - I might even try and adapt it for a strip on some socks or a short scarf.  My cabling is not great but I haven't cabled for a while (except for my Jo Sharp jacket WIP from last year)  overall I'm pretty happy.

Yes I finally finished the Broad Street Mittens from Knitty as well.  These were done in 6 ply Opal and were fiddly to knit but fairly straight forward if you follow the pattern.  These are for my BIL in Vancouver, Canada and were supposed to be for the cold winter - ah well maybe Spring will be cool!  they need a button for when the flap goes back.  They are a great idea with fingerless option for working with fingers and a flap that folds back over for finger downtime!

Well thats a little filip for now and I need to be off and cook some tea.

BTW - Some of you will have been perusing through Sockmonster Sales - and thats great, please be aware that this is a work in progress and there is plenty to do but rather than keep it all under wraps it is actually easier to just release it as I do it!  Hope that works for you if you can't understand the way I am setting it up let me know as I see things a way that sometimes others don't.

The Good News and the Bad News

Hey everyone the Good news is that Haigh is done

I am very happy with this.  I redid the numbers to use Recycled Denim Cotton of unknown origin from T's stash.  It was most pleasing becuase I redid the numbers myself and got the drape pretty right on 5.5mm needles.  Its a little bulky at the arms but exactly right for the purpose I made it for - summer sweater for those balmy nights with a bit of a wind chill!  Pity its nearly Winter!  I also hate my double/triple chins!

However the Bad news is that the poncho has gone to the frogpond and I hope to get cracking on it over a big sporting couple of days whilst watching the boys tennis and football.  Here it is!
