Bah Humbug - didn't make it!

Well I knitted day and night but realised at 9pm Friday night I wasn't going to finish the niece's pinafore so I had a bright idea and thought I'll do a sock and give that to her as a representation of the pinafore, got the stripes and the heel done and then Sat am realised that I needed to measure her foot!  So this is where I got to with both projects.  It didn't help that it was hot midweek and I found it hard to knit.  Will hopefully finish it - at a less hectic pace - in the next week or so.

Whilst I was at my SIL's we were talking about a project she had started from the Stitch n Bitch book in mohair - you know the dyed one in Kool Aid with the bell sleeves - to dye for p 142 - and she had only got throught the front on it so I offerred to take it home and see what I could get done for her.  She only had two balls left as Spotlight were holding it for her last year - don't know whether they will still have it but they never contacted her.  So I got a ball and she got a ball - she had started about 5 cm of the front and I had a go last night - whizzed through that ball in no time - so TRACE, I NEED MORE YARN!

We also decide on a little project for my 4 yr old niece in some Rowan 4ply (what is it with me and 4ply) cotton in magenta and we picked out a very simple v neck to do from Erika Knights book for children.

Lisa's Lovely Lorna's Laces

Whos a lucky girl - Look what I got today to test run from Lorna's Laces.  The top colourway is Tahoe ( a bit more purpley than the pic shows) and the bottom is Camouflage - very lovely both of them.  Its a great feeling yarn.  I am thinking of bringing them to Australia to sell and have all the sample cards and am just sorting through a possible order.

I also have failed to report the arrival of my lost box!  Thats right - usually it takes 21 days to get through to me, or thereabouts, but this time even allowing for Christmas New Year it was 5 weeks overdue, it had gone through quarantine.  I tell you it was an important lesson in insurance and relaxing!  Still it had customer orders in the box.  I'm planning another order in a couple of weeks as there is some fantastic new colours and patterns.  Go have a look at Wollfactory  and let me know if you are interested in purchasing any.

The yarn below is mainly Cotton Lana Grossa and Regia Patch Antik (they are all up for sale and will go onto Ebay soon).  They are such beautiful colours - some of the best I've seen in the Cottons.

Ok this has sat in the cupboard for the past 10 months in anticipation of my niece's first birthday whilst  many projects passed her by.  Now the birthday, which officially was last Saturday, party is this Saturday.  Its an Autmnal type of outfit so I wasn't too stressed until I  measured her  chest  and discovered her chest is only 2cm smaller than the size of the knitted  pinafore .  This is supposed to be how it looks!

I have also uploaded a pic of some socks into the album - I adore them - Regia Jubilee on 2.5mm needles with a 64st girth.  Here's the toe!

Off to a little feast and knit with a couple of friends tonight - a very special treat for me!

Not much knitting

But a whole lot of sewing going on.  DH and I have toddled off to Lincraft during their 50% by the metre sale and spent $400 on curtain material.  This in the hope that between us we can manage to curtain over 12 metres of window space in 3 different rooms and stave off our expensive winter wood bills for the first time in 6 years without curtains. No neighbours!

I have been up to my eyeballs in 20 metres of this green stuff - but now most of it is on the windows and we just need to do the pelmets.  Pretty pleased with myself as a non sewer.

But over the weekend I did manage to block Rowan Haigh in the Recycled cotton Denim yarn from TA and I have decided to go along with those undertaking finishing or fixit February after I discovered I have 7 started and unfinished projects some of which only need blocking and seaming!

I alsoo had a go at a Buttonhole Bag ala  Mason Dixon Knitting  Feb 1 post. and here are the results in double strand 8 ply Cosy Wool on 9mm needles.

Then felted it like the clappers in a pillow protector bag in hot soapy water for two top loader wash cycles and the result was:

Or rather should I say we have knit off!  Here I am, in blogland, haven't got a clue what I am doing (blogwise) but will muddle my way through all of this.  Hope you enjoy!  This is me with a delivery of sock yarn last year - very happy!
