Hey there, do you love my littlest knit. Its for a person I haven't met yet and no I'm not pregnant. Anyway no hints for a few weeks but I know the person will want to have a look so here it is.
Went OS in Dec/Jan - thats a whole other story and bought a few things
Some highlights were
Manos/Sweet Georgia/books/Debbie Bliss/Peaches n Cream/Dale
I finished the knitting on the shawl - pics to come
I'm under instructions Blog or Die - so stuff neatness, something pithy, something meaningful all thats coming is a few photos
St Brigid started, Fir Cone Shawl almost finished - 1700 rows of lace edging to do and nearly half way there - and a quick scarf from stash to feel a sense of achievement in Caldo a big thick yarn from Germany
Go look at Little knits good sale - never bought from them before but it looks good.
So hi and bye for now
Hi there - thought I'd put up some details for the Germany order.
The plan is:
I order what you want from Germany and then when its in you pay and I send
You can choose from the yarns at the Wollfactory website. Go to the Zum Shop and then to Sockenwolle from there you will see 3 brands Zitron, Regia and Lana Grossa. Have a look through and take down the name and numbers of the yarn you want - remember you need 100gm usually for a pair of socks. Email me your requests. I can get anything on her website if you want something different I will get you a quote.
Lana Grossa is $14 for 100gm, Regia is $16 and I will need to check on the Zitron which includes the very popular and slightly more expensive Trekking which will be $17 this year.
I check the availability and let you know if I can't get something.
Dates - lets have all orders in by 25th March by email to me on the above email or at lisa.cann@yvv.com.au and we will have the order done in the next week or so, three to five weeks for delivery, then I'll let you know how much to pay. Payment can be made by direct debit, cheque or Paypal.
Opal yarn is treated differently and I will put an order in for that if I get a minimum of ten balls ordered. ($17.50 a ball)
I am not able to order Lornas anymore but have still got sock yarn in Old Rose sold, Tahoe sold, Island Blue sold, China Blue, Happy Stripes sold and Jungle Stripe sold. ($25 for two skeins)
Shipping is $4.50 for up to 500grams and $8.10 for up to 3kg provided it fits in the Express bags.
Any queries email me
Lisa
(THERE IS ALSO HEAPS OF DESTASHING YARN ON MY SOCKMONSTER SALES SITE AT THE MOMENT, CHECK IT OUT)
I've finally got myself wireless! yay - we have had the laptop since January and the wireless network since around the same time but haven't got around to setting upsome of the programs and bookmarks I needed to get active on it - besides the 13 yr old has it hijacked most of the time for MSN and various other activities.
Knitwise I have been doing some small projects. Finally finished the Shedir from Knitty.com for a girlfriend going through the fires of lung cancer, did a pair of thrummed mittens for my mum who was heading to
NZ for a couple of weeks. I am continuing on the Opal Moss socks and have started a pair of legwarmers for my sister. Oh and I also did some wristwarmers for my sister in Vancouver.
BREAKING NEWS
I'm going to do another order to Germany so if you are interested in ordering I am hoping to order on or around the end of the month. Go to Wollfactory and to Sockenwolle and have a look see if you would like anything and then let me know. I will check price and availability and let you know if there is anything not available. It will be the usual $14 or $16 dollars (subject to prices still being ok from Wollfactory) and payment is due just prior to delivery. I'm also going to do a bit of a clearout and put some yarn up on the Sockmonster Sales blog so if anything takes your fancy let me know.
Well its a long time since posting and I'm sitting here on Valentines Day in my Rogue Hoody (absolutely in love with it) thats not so strange but it is because its mid February and it should be roaring hot here like it was all January! Weird weather.
I have been interested to sit outside of myself of late and ponder the fact that I seem to have cut myself off from the world. Its been an interesting 6 weeks. I felt very fatigued in the lead up to Christmas and over the actual holiday. We took off for the Island holiday caravan late on Boxing Day and I just still didn't feel right which was very annoying for me! My sister had come over for 6 weeks form Canada and I'd already had a cold when she first got here and I just felt very tired. Anyway 2 days into the holiday and I felt like #$%* Tired and then I started to get the shivers and rigors and a temp. Finally on the Friday before New Years I went to the doc who promptly ordered me back to Melbourne and hospital - so there it was - he thought I had a kidney infection with suspected septicemia. I spent the next 4 nights in hospital and it all turned out to be viral but in the mean time they pumped me with antib's and I promplty raacted to three different ones - finally sense prevailed and I left hospital with 9 days until I needed to fly to the US with DH for an intensive 9 days of work. I was fine and flew out on the 10th Jan with all the kids parcelled away in their appropriate places for the next little while.
We spent an intense 3 days with our new friends in San Antonio Texas and learning a new product we are bringing back to Australia - to do with mobile sketching. Or sketching electronically whilst we value property - there are also heaps of other applications for the software. Next we flew up with a team from Apex to Las Vegas for a very exciting conference. We then had little rest for the rest of the time we were there and flew out for Melbouren Wednesday night - arriving back relatively rested but diving back into family and work. Vegas is an interesting place - not one I would find it easy to live or holiday in. I really suffered from passive smoke - I didn't realise how much I had got used to it not being around. I learnt to play Black Jack and tried my hands at Crap but that pretty much sums up my winnings - Crap!
We had the kids back for the last week of holidays and pretty much went flying around picking up things getting ready for school and catching up with friends they didn't see for the rest of the holidays. Finally they were all off to school by the beginning of this month and we are already into the third week of school - hard to believe. Then I started back at work pretty much full on getting back into valuations. We are also preparing for the new business and there is a lot to do on that score too. We made the decision last week also to get an office in Emerald - for a whole lot of reasons so now I have been chasing paint colours, carpet, desks, phone options, internet options and furniture.
Needless to say I have cocooned myself or is it marooned myself. I haven't spoken to or seen any friends/family for almost 6 weeks - its a strange feeling I sort of don't know how to start again. I think I'd better just email them all and direct them to this blog. Its sort of been too hard. I think just the sheer mental energy of immediate family and the business changes that are happening has meant that what little time I have had I have just curled up with a book or 5! Thats my other guilty secret! I haven't been knitting - almost nothing for two months - but I have been reading. On the way over inthe plane I started reading the series by Diana Gabaldon - Crosstitch. There are 6 books int he series and in just over a month I'm on book 5 - no easy feat seeing hey are between 800 and 1400 pages long each. They have been an absolutely wonderful read and with my ancestry in Scotland (they are set in the 1700's in the Highlands and then later in the Colonies - US) I don't read very much normally because this happens - I become too obsessive. I love reading but don't do it very often because I love it too much and its a very selfish behaviour! Anyway I am now on the fifth book and love them. It will end soon when I read the 6th book!
So I will reintroduce myself to all my friends over the next week or so and hope they can understand I've jsut been off in my own world for a while. I have at least 10 people I need to get back intouch with. I've decided to be a bit more social over the next few weeks.
KNITTING
I have knit some wristwarmers for my sister Jen and they are on their way to her - out of Wendy Dennis wool. I also finished sewing up my Rogue hoodie! BEAUTIFUL. I should do some pictures soon. I'm still working on the Moss/Gold socks and the Shedir and Ems jumper which I haven't done anything on for ages. Jen's also picked out about another 3 or 4 projects that I can do for her if I want so I've certainly enough to keep me busy.
Stay well!
Well thats enough for now
Well its been another month since blogging - I had plans to do this every week at a minimum but as I said in my last post life got in the way! I have however been diligently knitting - firstly I finished the cardigan that has shamefully sat for a year unsewn - I have worn it but not put its cloings on yet. Its a little big but very warm and comfy. I've also finished two of the pair of socks out of three and the third second dock has been started , and finally am on the last ball of KSH for the stole. So I have made progress - albeit very slow.
The original Lornas Laces socks I started eons ago - finally I have a pair, they are wonderful and really great to wear. They don't bend out of shape and are not super soft but are firm and super warm. I will definitely be knitting more of these.

These are ones I started at Bendigo and are the Regia Jubilee range - very trusty socks that go well with anything although I must fess up and tell you that one sock is smaller down the leg than the other. I had a moment and instead of casting on 64 st which is my standard foot I cast on 60 and knitted right down to the flap before noticing. anyway did some increasing at the gusset and finished the sock off with 64. It ok - I hate to rip!
Now for the Jo Sharp Cardi I did in Plum 12 ply Rustic yarn from Bendigo - I must have bought it about 10 years ago (something old)
You'll notice the cardi is a bit wide but its really lovely for the footy and cold wintry days.
The next thing is that the Birch stole is now quite long and two balls down but I am heartily sick of knitting it - pics will be in the next post.
Something new and something blue are the new purchases where I took advantage of DH making a flying visit to the States - All that saving on postage - irresistible!
A serious input to the knitting library - I ordered The art of Fair Isle knitting, Christmas Stockings, Knitting Vintage Socks, Yarn Harlots book, and the Celtic Collection from Amazon. Not here but from other sources I have recently added three EZ books and Folk Socks to the collection too.
How about some Jaggerspun Laceweight on the left is Superlamb 100% Merino in Loden and the 'something blue' on the right is the much talked abut and blogged about Zephyr in Indigo. There is a serious amount of yarn on these cones about 5000 yards from memory! Jessica from Weaving Rainbow was extremely helpful in getting this to me.
Finally some Koigu deliciousness. The five skeins on the left are for Charlottes web in The Knitting Zone's Egg Hunt colourway, and the four on the right are for socks - the colourways are divine and I'll be interested to see how they knit up.
Well thats about it for now - I must admit looking at the heading I didn't have something borrowed but the rest fit! Happy knitting - Lisa
